*Starred Review --Kirkus  Top Pick --RT Book Reviews
Includes a wealth of delicious recipes. In this 13th entry of the Coffeehouse Mystery series, we return to the Village Blend, a charming coffeehouse in the heart of New York's picturesque Greenwich Village. When a car bomb goes off outside this landmark shop, single-mom and manager Clare Cosi comes to the aid of an anonymous customer, one who turns out to be billionaire tech whiz Eric Thorner. In gratitude for saving his life, Eric hires Clare to create the most expensive coffee blend on the planet. But as Clare is pulled deeper into Eric's world--a mesmerizing circle of cutting-edge luxuries and cutthroat rivalries--she begins to wonder: Is this charming young CEO marked for termination? Or is he the one making a killing?
To solve this case, Clare will have to bribe a bomb squad lieutenant; conjure up a menu for a "billionaire's potluck"; fix her daughter's love life; stop a Slayer while working with one; and stay alive while doing it. Coffee: it can get a girl killed. Penguin hardcover release: December 3, 2013.
Cleo Coyle, the New York Times bestselling author of Holiday Buzz, serves readers a fresh new Coffeehouse Mystery.

From Booklist
Like most amateur sleuths, coffee-shop owner Clare Cosi would seem hard pressed to keep finding murders to solve, but it’s a lot easier when car bombs go off in front of your store. This particular bomb was aimed at techno-wunderkind Eric Thorner, whose life is saved by quick-thinking Clare. Thorners’ driver, however, isn’t so lucky. Thorner thanks Clare for his life with a dream brewing machine and an opportunity to help create the world’s most expensive coffee. The project entails jetting about the world in search of the perfect bean, but, while Clare is impressed by life in the fast lane, all she really wants is to be with her cop-boyfriend, Mike. Meanwhile, she tries to determine who planted the bomb, and when further mayhem strikes, it’s clear that she’s getting closer. Imaginative recipes and fascinating coffee details surround the mystery with an appealing aroma. Foodie mystery fans will savor this one along with titles by Julie Hyzy and Laura Childs. --Amy Alessio

Cleo Coyle hits it out of the park again with another fabulous installment of the beloved coffeehouse series!
By happycaregiver
The fabulous Cleo Coyle has done it again, another wonderful addition to the Coffeehouse Mysteries Series. In this book, Clare gets involved with a billionaire techie who may or may not be a murderer. With Mike away working in Washington, DC the status of their relationship is murky and the boy billionaire, Eric, has set his sights on making Clare his next conquest. As with previous books in this series, this was well written, had terrific pacing and brought back many of the characters we have grown to love, including Clare and Matt's daughter, Joy as well as coffeehouse employees Esther and Tuck. Whether you have been a fan for years or start with this book, you will be captivated by the amount of research that must go into making the coffeehouse world so realistic! The information about the business, as well as all the tech info that is involved in Eric's business is not only fascinating, but it makes you feel like the characters are real, fully formed and that the world they inhabit is really located in the village and you can drop in anytime you want by picking up one of the books in the series. The other great thing about these books is that even though they are mysteries, and extremely good one at that, they are so much more. Not only will you be kept on the edge of your seat trying to figure out whodunit, but you will happily enjoy the ride! There is so much "meat" and substance to the plot, the characters, etc. . . that you never want the story to end. I found myself thinking about what will happen next to Clare and Mike, along with Joy and Franco and many of the other characters days after finishing the book. Luckily for us, there are still books to come where we get to find out!

Do yourself a favor and get a copy for you and several for those on your Christmas list. I guarantee that if you enjoy great writing, terrific characters and a good mystery you will not be disappointed.

Personal preferences
By suzebo
I really enjoy this series but this installment has 3 of my least-favorite elements found in cozy mysteries: 1) political commentary (Solar Flare); 2) too many details about things I don't understand (Eric's technology); and, 3) avoidable tension in longtime relationships (Clare and Mike's long distance romance and the resulting misunderstandings). I know, I know, most people find that these types of things add interest to plots that can become overly predictable and they make up only a small part of the book but I found them distracting--it's all a matter of personal preference. For me, I would be happy if the author ditched the commentary, left out the technical stuff, and got Mike and Clare back in the same city in the next installment. Oh, and bringing Joy back home wouldn't be a bad idea, either. If Ms. Coyle wants to write one just for me, she might consider these suggestions. But I'm not actually holding my breath.
