From the Inside Flap
She cried. His pretty little witch was crying.Standing in a field of stone, surrounded by people, yet utterly alone.Day bled into night and the people drifted from her side and still she cried. She was alone now, save for one woman and one man.Anger bit into him as the man--the vampire--dared to lift a hand to touch the witch. Dared to wrap a big arm around her slender shoulders and draw her close.Tears choked him.Her pain racked him.He wanted to reach out to her. He wanted to be the one to comfort her, to hold her against him as she wept. But when he whispered her name, she didn't hear him.~*~Dominic came awake with her name on his lips and a tearing pain in his heart.Snarling, he fought free of the covers and dashed a hand over his damp face. Crying. Damn it. Again. Dreams of some woman he'd never met and he wakes up crying. He stared at the pink smears on his fingertips and stormed into the bathroom to wash away the blood-tinged tears. With water dripping from his face, he looked at the mirror. A muscle worked in his jaw and he gripped the edge of the marble counter."This is fucking ridiculous," he muttered. He was obsessed. Obsessed, dreaming about the same woman, night after night, year after year. And now he was even crying like some fucking pansy in his dreams."What in the hell is this?" Shoving away from the counter, he strode to the enclosed shower and turned on the water with an angry flick of his wrist. He needed a damn hot shower, he needed a good hard run, maybe even a down and dirty fight--if he could get all three of those, it might lighten his dark mood. But somehow he doubted it.The dreams were getting worse, and he had a bad feeling he knew why.Dominic Ralston was going crazy.

A great ending for a worthy witch, I was glad Nessa finally found love again.

Hunter's Fall by Shiloh Walker
Paranormal Romance - June 7th, 2011
4 stars
Hunter's Fall is the greatly anticipated book to the author's paranormal Hunters series. Hunters are highly skilled paranormal beings who protect the world against evil.
Nessa is great witch who is hundreds of years old. She is tired of living. When she was young, her husband was killed and he vowed to come back to her. However, he has never returned and she wants to depart her lonely life. When she battles with an evil blood witch, Nessa hopes it will finally kill her. But to her dismay she finds she has inherited the witch's young body instead! When her beloved young charged dies, it is a last straw to her sanity and Nessa becomes restless and reckless.
Dominic is a young vampire Hunter who has always dreamed of a mysterious woman. When he discovered she might actually be real, he is determined to find her at any cost. But what happens when the powerful witch doesn't want to be found and has lost her memory? Can he save her in time?
I was excited to read this book because I wanted poor Nessa to finally find love. I could understand her deep weariness of carrying on alone and was so happy that she would finally find love again! But sometimes I felt the book lingers too much on her sadness and loneliness, which made me wish that Nessa would do something to snap out of her depression. Dominic is the perfect hero. He will let nothing stop him from finding Nessa once he discovers she is real, even if it means fighting against someone stronger than himself. This only thing I was a bit disappointed with was that there were too few flashbacks concerning Nessa's past with her husband. I wanted to know about more them and how they were together before tragedy struck. Also I would have also liked to know more about Nessa's life as a young Hunter.
A great ending for a worthy witch, I was glad Nessa finally found love again.

Love the Hunters but not this story
By FizzySmile
I have been a fan of Shiloh Walker for at least 10-12 years...while I haven't read ALL her books, she ranks as one of my favorites and many of her books remain on my keeper shelf, including the early ones from this series. I've read all the books in the Hunter's series, including those from the original publisher, Ellora's Cave and ones that have been available through another publisher, I believe it's Samhain. I will say right off I prefer these to the new mainstream novels. However, over all, this is a great series but to truly enjoy it and connect with the story and characters, you need to read all of them.
I was very excited that Nessa was finally going to find love, especially after everything she's been through. She has been the rock of the Hunter's for so long, she deserves happiness. I felt Dominic was a worthy mate and reincarnation for Nessa--dark, brooding and alpha (or "Master") but also willing to be vulnerable and put his heart out there for her. I love that Ms. Walker brings characters in from previous stories to keep them intertwined. One of the problems I've found with some series is that too often the story will focus on the main characters without enough back story and previous characters to offer that connection. If you're going to write a series where so many characters are integral and well loved, you have to continue to use them as supporting characters in future publications.
This being said, I had a very hard time with this particular book. Even though it's a reasonable length, I just felt like it was too long. I kept thinking "OK, THIS chapter, they'll meet...." and they didn't and the struggle continued. Another reviewer pointed out the Nessa seemed to be stuck in her depression and it kept cycling. I agree, but I see it more that we spent a lot of time in the heads of both Dominic and Nessa and while that's necessary to some extent to know the story, it felt like too much to me. I didn't think it was a bad story, just that it seemed to drag on at times.
Will this prevent me from continuing to read and enjoy future chapters in this series? No, not at all. I'm looking forward to whatever is next, and I'm hoping we'll see a story for Brad once he's older. As with other authors whose series I love, some are better than others. All I need to do is pull one of my favorites off the book shelf and I remember why I love it so much. This just won't be one of those books.

Hunter's Fall reviewed by The Book Vixen
By Brianna
Why I Read this Book: I'm always up for a Shiloh Walker read. It all started with Broken and I've been hooked on her writing since. She writes great romance stories with lots of heat.
What I Liked: The journey for Nessa and Dominic's reunion. It wasn't easy and boy, were there obstacles. The hero and heroine had to work at their relationship, more than you can imagine.
The author didn't disappoint with the love scenes. If it's one thing I know I can count on with this particular author, it's chemistry with the hero and heroine and hot steamy love scenes. There wasn't an overload of love scenes in this book since the hero and heroine don't share page time until more than 1/2 into the book.
Even though I get the feeling that Nessa's story began earlier in the series, I felt like I got her whole story in Hunter's Fall. I was a bit confused about Agnes' character in regards to Nessa in the prologue but that was cleared up 2 pages later.
What I Didn't Like: I felt like I was missing part of the connection with some of the characters. Duke, Ana, her brother Brad. There's a hint of something from the past regarding Ana and Dominic but it wasn't elaborated on.
I did get confused at times while reading Hunter's Fall. The Nessa/Morgan storyline got a bit confusing for me. There were quite a few characters thrown into this book and I didn't know where they came from. Probably from one of the previous books in this series. While Hunter's Fall can be read as a stand alone, I'd say it's probably best to rest the whole series to catch up on the other characters that were mentioned. And to find out Dominic's back story as well.
Overall Impression: For me, Hunter's Fall is a book that I could have benefited more from if I had read the rest of the series; to fill in some of the blanks. There are some characters in this book that have already been established in the series that I would like to get to know better. Like Malachi and Kelsey, Duke and Ana. I'd also like to read Brad's story. Hunter's Fall is somewhat of a complex read, one you won't want to rush through.
